Adelman Preparing in Arizona for Senior Run

Running back Steven Adelman has returned to his native state of Arizona for the summer to prepare for pre-season camp at La Salle University.  After a successful spring semester both in the classroom and on the playing field, Adelman is excited about his opportunity  to contribute this fall.  He was voted Special Teams Player of the Year after his junior campaign headlined by his ability to return kick-offs.

Adelman looked impressive physically last summer during pre-season camp, but like most newcomers, needed time to digest the offense.  After a solid fall working out of the backfield in the Explorers' offense, Adelman has the system down.  His knowledge of the offense can be attributed to the work RB coach Kevin Whitney put in developing Adelman.  Steve's progress showed during 2005 spring ball throughout the fifteen workouts.  "Physically, Steven has always shown that he can excel in our offense, securing the game mentally enabled him to just let things loose on the field in the spring", commented Head Football Coach, Phil Longo.

The transition into a new offense wasn't the only change for the Arizona native.  The similarities between Tucson, Arizona and Philadelphia, PA were few and far between when he arrived here in August of 2004.  The change in culture and the surrounding atmosphere was something that Adelman found to be extremely positive.  "The transition from Tucson to Philadelphia has been an extremely memorable experience.  I've made various friendships that will last a lifetime," remarked the senior running back.

Adelman had this to say about his team at La Salle, "I would have to say this team is more like one big family.  We are all like a bunch of brothers who look out for one another and bring the best out of each other."  Like most of his teammates, Steve is extremely eager to get started with the 2005 season.  Offensively, La Salle broke numerous school records last season while posting nearly 30 points per game and 34 points per game in the MAAC Conference.  Adelman is joined by junior stand-outs Josh Brumfield and Kevin Sullivan in the backfield.  After the departure of big-play RB Kenny Triboletti, this three-headed attack looks to continue the offensive march for the Explorers.

When asked about the coaching staff, Adelman commented, "The staff truly has a great knowledge of the game of football and their support on and off the field is tremendous."  Adelman will reunite with his coaching staff on August 13th when he reports with the rest of his teammates for the start of pre-season camp.  The former PIMA Junior College star looks to leave his mark on the program this season.  The Explorers will open their season at Wagner College on September 3, 2005.  Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
