Posted by: Marc MullenHUNTINGTON, WV - After winning its first game of the Green and White Invitational Friday, the La Salle Women's Soccer team drew a 0-0 double overtime tie with Morehead State, Sunday afternoon.
The Explorers outshot their opponent, 21-12, and had a 7-2 corner kick advantage, but could not put a goal on the scoreboard.
It was the second straight shutout for Morehead State (2-2-2), who did not allow a goal to Georgia Southern on Friday night.
Freshman Lauren Malizia (Richmond, VA/The Steward School), who recorded her first win of her collegiate career in the 2-1 victory over host Marshall Friday night, earned her first shutout Sunday in the tie and had five saves.
For her efforts, Malizia, along with senior Alexis Petrucci (Abington, PA/Bishop McDevitt) and sophomores Kristin Hextall (Voorhees, NJ/Bishop Eustace) and Shelby Reese (Richboro, PA/Council Rock South), were named to the All-Tournament Team.
La Salle (2-4-1) will return to the City of Brotherly Love for its next match, an afternoon contest at Pennsylvania, Friday at 4 PM.
