Posted by: Marc MullenWEST HARTFORD, CT - With less than six minutes remaining in the contest, the La Salle Explorers looked like they were headed into their second overtime game of the season, this time with the Hartford Hawks.
However in the span of three minutes, the Hawks scored two goals to secure their first victory of the season, Friday night at the newly renovated Al-Marzook Field in West Hartford.
Hartford (1-2) scored at the 84:56 mark, when freshman Kacey Busque headed the ball into the net off a serve into the box by sophomore Maja Siosteen. Less than three minutes later, Siosteen and Busque recorded assists on the insurance goal by sophomore Vicki Makkas.
Both goalkeepers, the Hawks' sophomore Liz Cook and the Explorers' freshman Amy Grant (Denver, PA/Cocalico), made one save in the contest.
La Salle (1-3) will have the rest of the weekend off, but will stay on the road, next travelling to Lehigh, Wednesday, September 7, with another 7 PM start, before taking part in the Marshall Tournament next weekend.
