Hextall Scores Two Goals in La Salle Come-From-Behind Victory

TEANECK, NJ - Just 11 minutes into the first half, the host Fairleigh Dickinson Knights took a 1-0 lead, however the La Salle Women's Soccer Team scored three unanswered goals and held on for a 4-2 victory at University Stadium Friday afternoon.

The Knights Natalie Bellini scored off a rebound shot by Ana Moniz at the 11:02 mark of the game to put the Knights up 1-0.

The Explorers answered back in the 34th minute, when freshman Traci DePasquale (Forked River, NJ/Lacey Township) netted an unassisted goal.

Just four minutes later, senior Alexis Petrucci (Abington, PA/Bishop McDevitt) buried the ball into the left corner from 20-yards out off an assist by DePasquale to give La Salle a 2-1 lead.

Ten minutes after the half, the Explorers increased their lead to 3-1, when sophomore Kristin Hextall (Voorhees, NJ/Bishop Eustace) scored from 18 yards out off an assist from freshman Jen Broeze (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury).

Fairleigh Dickinson (4-5) would cut its deficit back to one in the 74th minute, as Moniz found the back of the net from 20 yards out.

In the 76th minute, sophomore Shelby Reese (Richboro, Pa/Council Rock South) received a red card, forcing the Explorers to play the final 14 minutes a player down.

Three minutes later, Hextall connected for her second goal of the game off a cross from freshman Dana Giordano (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson).

Freshman Lauren Malizia (Richmond, VA/The Steward School) recorded the win in net for the Explorers, as she stopped six shots.

La Salle (3-5-1) will travel to Princeton, Tuesday for a 7:00 PM contest, before opening up the Atlantic 10 slate and hosting its first game of the season at McCarthy Stadium next Friday afternoon at 3 PM, as George Washington visits Philadelphia.
