Posted by: Sue SennerPHILADELPHIA, PA - Swimming at home at Kirk Pool for the first time in 2006, the women's swimming and diving team hosted the Seton Hall Pirates on Tuesday evening and fell 152.50-82.50.
Diver Katie Gifford scored two wins, with a first place victory in the 1-meter event with a score of 259.79 and again in the 3-meter event with a score of 281.17.
Rachel Sheridan made a strong showing for the Explorers, with a gold medal performance in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.17. Sheridan also crossed the finish line first in the 100 freestyle event with a time of 54.76. In the 200 breaststroke, Sheridan earned a second place finish with a time of 2:30.81.
The 500 freestyle event proved an easy event for Jamie Polek taking first place with a time of 5:13.52. Polek crossed the finish line second in the 1000 freestyle event with a time of 10:50.01.
Freshman Carleen Caldwell rounded out La Salle's first place victories with a win in the 50 freestyle event with a time of 25.23.
Up next for the Explorers, the Duquesne Dukes will visit Kirk Pool on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
