Posted by: Sue SennerBETHLEHEM, PA - The La Salle University men's swimming and diving team posted another win to their credit with a 134-111 victory over host Lehigh on Saturday afternoon.
Explorer junior Sean Connors-McBride continues to be a force for La Salle with three first place finishes. Connors-McBride picked up his first victory in the 1000 freestyle event with a time of 9:48.27, followed by a gold medal performance in the 200 butterfly event with a time of 2:00.52. His third victory came in the 500 freestyle event, finishing with a time of 4:53.03 and ahead of teammate Emir Hubijar who crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 4:56.61.
In the 200 individual medley, Grant Chin added points for the Explorers crossing the finish line ahead of the competition with a time of 1:55.63. Teammate Matt Ainsworth also captured a first place victory int he 200 backstroke event with a time of 2:00.52.
John Welsh earned a first place finish in the 100 freestyle event with a time of 48.19 and a second place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.30. In the 50-free, Chris Cefalo took third place in the 22.57.
Diver Karo Isajan claimed the top spot in the 1-meter event, finishing with 425.13 points. In the 3-meter event, Isajan took scond place with 240 points, finishing behind Lehigh's Clark Cohen with 287.55 points.
La Salle's 400-meter free relay team capped off the meet with a first place finish with a time of 3:13.72. The team consisted of Welsh, Kevin Whelan, Cefalo and Ainsworth.
The Explorers will close out the regular season on Saturday, February 4th, when they visit the Drexel Dragons for a tri-meet with St. Francis at 12:00 p.m.
