PHILADELPHIA, PA - As the La Salle volleyball team honored its two seniors,
Caitlin Conner and Crolyn Judge prior to the match with George Washington at Tom Gola Arena, the Explorers were not able to complete the day's celebration. The Explorers ended the night with a 3-0 loss and saw their record drop to 7-19 overall and 0-8 in the conference. The Colonials improve to 9-10 overall and 2-5 in the A-10.
Despite falling in three games, the Explorers record 40 kills in the match to George Washington's 37. Junior Stephanie Owen led all players in the match with 13 kills. Middle hitter Amy McKeon landed eight kills and posted a team-best hitting percentage of .462 (8-2-13). Conner assisted on 28 kills and dropped three kills on the Colonials. Conner needs just 8 more assists to reach the 3,000 plateau.
At the serve line, Owen recorded La Salle's only two aces of the match.
On defense, Judge led all players with 16 digs. Owen was second with seven digs, while Erin Sullivan contributed six for the Explorers.
The Colonials were led by Kelly Kabbes and Juliene McLaughlin who landed seven kills each in the victory. Setter Kaimana Lee tallied 25 kills and contributed three kills of her own.
As a team, the Colonials served eight aces, with Janine Brown serving three of those aces.
On defense, the Colonials were led with 11 digs by McLaughlin and Lee and Janine Brown were right behind McLaughlin with 10 each.
At the net, Kalles assisted on four blocks for the match, while Lee paired up on three blocks.
The Explorers will return to action on Wednesday, when they kick off a three-match road swing starting off with Fairleigh Dickinson at 7:00 p.m.
