La Salle Receives Votes In Soccer Buzz Poll

PHILADELPHIA - After a 1-0 upset victory over Dayton on Sunday and with its recent success, the La Salle Women's Soccer team has received votes in the most recent Soccer Buzz Rankings.

They have returned to the poll for the first time since early in the 2004 season, when they were also receiving votes in September. They have not been in the polls this late in the season since the 2000 season, a year when the Explorers finished 12-6.

Glancing over the poll, La Salle holds a 4-5 record against other teams in the rankings, which includes victories over regionally-ranked Massachusetts, Hartford, and Charlotte. Two of the losses are to nationally-ranked #12 William & Mary and #16 Villanova.

Including the 2-1 double overtime victory over previously-unbeated Manhattan on Sept. 17, La Salle has won seven of 11 games, which included a four-game winning streak, and are 5-2-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

La Salle will face Penn, who is also ranked regionally, Wednesday night at 7:30 PM in its final game of the season at McCarthy Stadium, before looking to secure an A-10 playoff berth when they face George Washington, Saturday at 1 PM.
