PHILADELPHIA - After taking a one-goal lead early in the non-conference match, the La Salle Women's Soccer team allowed three first half goals to Penn, and the Quakers went on the win the contest, 4-1, at McCarthy Stadium Wednesday night.
Junior Shelby Reese scored her second goal of the season with a header off a free kick from about 25 yards out by classmate Jenna Guagenti which gave the Explorers a 1-0 lead just 8:32 into the contest.
However, just 10 minutes later, Penn's Jessica Fuccello would score her first of two goals in the game to knot the game at 1-1 on a pass from Ellen Gregory.
Penn (8-4-2) took control of the match after scoring two goals less than four minutes apart to take a 3-1 lead. Jess Rothenheber tallied at the 34:44 mark of the first off an assist by Fuccello. She would add her seventh goal of the season at the 38:38 mark.
In the second half, Molly Weir added another for the Quakers in the 62nd minute.
La Salle (8-9-1, 5-2-1 A-10) now turns its attention back to the Atlantic 10 Conference, as they will try to secure an A-10 playoff spot when they face George Washington, Saturday at 1 PM.
