Explorers Sign Three Recruits for 2007-08

PHILADELPHIA, PA - La Salle University head men's basketball coach Dr. John Giannini has announced that he has received letters of intent from three high school recruits who will be eligible for the 2007-08 basketball season.

Twin forwards Jerrell and Terrell Williams (Paterson, NJ/Northfield-Mount Hermon) and guard Kyle Griffin (Allentown, PA/Germantown Academy) have all committed to play for the Explorers beginning in Giannini's fourth season.

"These three young men represent the qualities we want to build our program with.  They bring us a tremendous work ethic, high energy, high character and strong academics," said Giannini.

The 6'8, 210-pound Williams' will join fellow Paterson, NJ teammate Kimmani Barrett who is a freshman on the team this season.  They are currently attending prep school in Massachusetts.

Terrell was the first of the brothers to commit to the Explorers.  "Terrell is a strong and athletic player with excellent length.  He can truly guard all five positions and is an exceptional defender."  Giannini also pointed out that he is great in transition and is "constantly improving his skills."

Jerrell, who committed shortly after his twin brother had made his decision, is slightly bigger and plays very strong around the basket according to Giannini, "Like Terrell, he is outstanding in the open court and getting to the basket and is a very good defender."

"They are just great kids and have a great future," added Giannini.

Griffin will become the second product of La Salle University alum Jim Fenerty's Germantown Academy program when he joins current freshman Brian Grimes next season.

The 6'3, 185-pound guard will be counted on to add a shooting threat and sturdy ball-handling to Giannini's stockpile of long, athletic, multi-positioned players.  "Kyle brings good size and strength for a guard.   His basketball IQ and work ethic are exceptional.  He is definitely a winner and should become a very important player in our future," said Giannini.

"These guys are outstanding players from outstanding teams who know how to win," summarized Dr. John.  "We have followed them for the past two years and know them extremely well.  I can not be more pleased.  I am highly confident they will represent La Salle positively and help us win games."
