PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Atlantic 10 announced today the All-Conference teams for men's soccer, including La Salle University players
Jeremy Ortiz (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape), who made First Team All-Conference, and freshman
Joey Foster (Tampa, FL/Sickles) who made the All-Rookie team.
Jeremy Ortiz has been extremely busy at La Salle since first coming to the school in 2004. This was not his first year making an all-conference appearance, as he was named to the second team last year. He was also named to the Soccer Seven All-Star team, and earned player of the week awards on more than one occasion. He was selected for the all-tournament teams for the Drexel Invitation and the Lafayette Puma Soccer Classic as well. He was also selected to the 2006 Preseason All-Conference team this year.
He scored six goals this season and four assists, earning a team-high 16 points for the year. He also led the team in shots with 41 and had two game winning goals.
Joey Foster was named to the All-Rookie team this year for his efforts on the field. The freshman quickly made an impression on the team, helping them to a 1.67 goals allowed average. He also scored twice and earned two assists for the season.
He was a key reserve on the team and played in 17 of the 18 games this year. He will surely be in integral part of the team next year and in the future, as La Salle loses their two senior captain defenders Matt Kelly and Jeff Spiker this season.
