Posted by: Sue SennerPHILADELPHIA, PA - La Salle women's swimming and diving freshman Shannon Duval (Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago/Holy Name Convent) was named as the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the week ending November 5, 2006.
In just her second collegiate swim meet, Duval set a school record for the second time in as many meets on November 3rd in La Salle's 157-100 win over C.W. Post, recording a time of 1:07.13 in the first 100-yards of the 200 breaststroke event. She eclipsed the previous mark of 1:07.24, set by Alison Heider in 1995. Duval also captured gold in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.47) and also swam a leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay (4:00.20).
A week earlier, Duval also set the school record in the 200 yard breaststroke, breaking another of Heider's records set in 1995.
Duval will return to action at Kirk Pool on Saturday, November 11th, when they Explorers host St. Bonaventure.
