Posted by: Sue SennerNew Haven, CT - The La Salle men's swimming team competed at the Nutmeg Invitational hosted by Yale University. The unscored meet featured Bridgeport, CW Post, Central Connecticut State, Fordham, Syracuse, Williams and host Yale.
Senior Sean Connors-McBride led the way for the Explorers posting the team's only individual first place finish of the meet. Connors-McBride earned the first place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:54.20. In the 100-yard butterfly he swam to a second place finish with a time of 51.70 and a third place finish in the 200-yard freestyle event with a time of 1:44.10. Connors-McBride added a fifth place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:43.45.
Teammate Grant Chin swam to a second place finish in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:57.75. Chin also earned a third place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke finishing with a time of 2:12.84. He also posted a sixth place finish with a time of 4:15.43 in the 400-yard individual medley.
John Welsh crossed the finish line in second place (47.93) in the 100-yard freestyle, while Owen Black captured third with a time of 48.19. Welsh also earned fourth place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (54.42) and in the 50-yard freestyle (22.01).
In the 100-yard breaststroke, David Ellerson crossed the finish line in third place with a time of 59.85.
The 800-yard freestyle relay team earned a first place finish with a time of 7:02.35 as did the 200-yard medley relay team with a time of 1:36.71.
The Explorers will return to action on Friday, January 12th and Saturday, January 13th when they take part in the Rhose Island Invitational.
