Steven Smith averaged 29.5 points and 10.5 rebounds for the week.

PHILADELPHIA, PA - La Salle senior Steven Smith (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast) earned both the Atlantic 10 and Big 5 player of the week awards after turning in stellar performances against Saint Louis and Fordham. The All-America candidate averaged 29.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in leading the Explorers to a third-place finish in the A-10.

 

Smith scored 33 points in La Salle's loss to Fordham on March 1, adding five rebounds and a pair of steals. He followed that up with an impressive 26-point, 16-rebound performance on Senior Day against Saint Louis on March 4. The 16 rebounds marked a career high for Smith, who was playing in front of a hometown crowd at Tom Gola Arena for the last time. He also had three assists and two blocks against the Billikens

.

Smith garnered the A-10 award four times this season, and earned Big 5 honors three times.

 

The Explorers head to Cincinnati for the A-10 tournament with a first-round bye after defeating Saint Louis. La Salle will play the winner of the Fordham-Richmond game. That game will take place on Thursday, March 9 at 8:30 p.m.
