AMBLER, PA - The La Salle softball team (12-31, 2-16 Atlantic 10) lost a pair of conference games to crosstown rival Temple in a Sunday doubleheader. In game one, the Owls prevailed 4-1. Temple took game two by a score of 5-4.
In game one, the Explorers lone run came on a first-inning homer by Laura Dezolt. It was DeZolt's second home run of the weekend; the junior hit a two-run shot against Saint Joseph's on Sunday.
After the Owls built a 4-0 lead in game two, the Explorers used a four-run fourth to tie the game. With two outs, Jen Street's RBI single plated La Salle's first run. After a Teddi Hernandez double, Danielle Signorelli reached on an error, scoring Street to make it 4-2. Two batters later DeZolt hit a two-run single to knot the game at 4-4.
The score stayed tied until the bottom of the sixth inning when Danielle Fagan hit a leadoff home run to give the Owls a 5-4 lead.
The Explorers will wrap up their season on Friday, May 5, with a Senior Day doubleheader against Fordham starting at 3:00 p.m.
