Moseley Named Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The La Salle athletic department honored several individual and team academic accomplishments at the Student-Athlete Academic Recogntion Awards Reception. Ryan Moseley (Nassau, Bahamas/Queens College HS) was chosen as the 2005-06 Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while Elizabeth Geiger (Somerville, NJ/Immaculata) was selected as the 2005-06 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Marco Onorato (Philadelphia, PA/Roman Catholic) earned the 2005-06 Academic Excellence Award.

The men's tennis team picked up the awards for highest men's athletic team grade point average in both the fall 2005 and spring 2005 semesters. The team had a 2.99 GPA in each term.

The field hockey team was honored with the fall 2005 award for the highest women's athletic team GPA, with an average of 3.54. The women's tennis team earned the spring 2005 award with a 3.36 GPA.

Moseley, a member of the men's soccer and track teams, compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.2 as a computer science major. Some of his other academic accomplishments include garnering the Faculty Athletics Council Academic Achievement Award and being a member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's honor roll.

Geiger, who competes on the cross country and track teams, worked to attain a 3.3 GPA in the nursing program. Some of her academic highlights include a spot on the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Faculty Athletics Council Academic Achievement Award.

Onorato, a member of the men's tennis team, carries a cumulative GPA of 3.83 as a management information systems major. He has also been a recipient of the Faculty Athletics Council Academic Achievement Award and holds a spot on the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
