PHILADELPHIA, PA - La Salle saw eight student athletes garner spots on the spring installment of the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area teams. Dan Waters (Wyndmoor, PA/La Salle HS) earned a spot on the Academic All-Area Baseball Team, while Marco Onorato (Philadelphia, PA/Roman Catholic) made the men's tennis team.
John Lorenzo (Laguna Hills, CA/Laguna Hills) was named to the Academic All-Area Golf Team and Kat Prokop (Towaco, NJ/Montville Twp.) earned honors for women's lacrosse. A pair of Explorers, Rachel Papin (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert's) and Carolyn Lipovsky (Edison, NJ/Bishop Ahr), were named to the Women's Track and Field Academic All-Area Team, and Elizabeth McGrain (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) and Therese Pomeroy (Philadelphia, PA/St. Maria Goretti) earned spots on the women's rowing team. The teams are voted on by members of the Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association.
Waters, a junior, carries a 3.56 grade point average as a marketing major. Onorato, a senior, majored in management information systems with a 3.83 GPA. Lorenzo, a junior economics major, has a 3.44 GPA. Prokop, senior, majored in chemistry with a 3.70 GPA.
Papin, a junior nursing major, has a GPA of 3.42, while teammate Lipovsky, a sophomore who majors in chemistry, carries a 3.55 GPA. McGrain, also a junior nursing major, has a GPA of 3.71, while teammate Pomeroy, a junior, carries a 3.84 GPA in accounting.
