PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University Women's Basketball team announced its schedule for the 2006-07 season today, and it will feature 10 teams that made postseason appearances last year, including five who made it to the NCAA Women's Basketball Championships.

 

Vanderbilt, from the Southeastern Conference and advanced to the second round of the NCAA's in March, highlights the Explorers non-conference schedule, as La Salle will take on the Commodores New Year's Day in Nashville, TN. A day after taking on Vanderbilt, La Salle will stay in the state to face Libscomb, Jan 2.

 

La Salle opens its season with five straight road games, starting Nov. 10 at Albany, then take on WNIT quarterfinalist and Big 5-rival Villanova (Big East) in its second game followed by NCAA-participant Sacred Heart (Northeast).

 

Other postseason squads the Explorers will face on the road include A-10 schools Temple (NCAA), Saint Joseph's (WNIT), and Xavier (WNIT).

 

The Explorers will host postseason teams Delaware (CAA/WNIT), the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Horizon League/NCAA), George Washington (A-10/NCAA), and Charlotte (A-10/WNIT) at Tom Gola Arena.
