Posted by: Sue SennerEASTON, PA - A trio of La Salle Explorer volleyball players earned a double-double in La Salle's heartbreaking 3-2 loss at Lafayette'e Kirby Sports Center on Wednesday night. After claiming the first two games 30-19 and 30-20, the Leopards rcame back to take games 3 and 4 by scored of 30-26, 31-29. In the fifth and deciding game, the Explorers struggled and fell 15-8. La Salle now owns a 4-6 record, while the Leopards improve to 3-4 overall.
Junior hitter Erin Sullivan contributed a team-high 15 kills to go along with 15 digs and a match-high six service aces. Jackie Kushman and Stephanie Owen posted identical stats of 12 kills and 20 digs to round out the trio of double-double scorers.
Christa Dominick led the time in hitting percentage at .321 dropping 14 kills on the Leopards on 28 attempts with five errors. Dominick also recorded one solo block and on assisted block. Setter Caitlin Conner assisted on 56 of La Salle's 66 kills in the match and landed three kills while stopping three solo shots.
Libero Carolyn Judge continued her dig dominance with a match-high 33 digs. Also strong on defense, Amy McKeon blocked a match-high six blocks, five solo and one assisted.
The Leopards were led by Shannon Fisher with a match-high 16 kills and V. Canto-Ponce with 15 kills. Lafayette split he setting duties, with Megan Carter finishing the match with 19 assists and Ashton Rossi coming off the bench to end the match with 33 assists.
Lafayette got a team-high 25 digs from Kari Horn and 18 digs from Michaela Donohue.
La Salle will return to action this Friday, when they kick off competition at the Bucknell Invitational.
