Sophomore Kevin Lydic had the second goal of the game that would push the score to 2-0 |
PHILADELPHIA - The Men's soccer team (3-3-1) had a convincing win this Saturday as they shut down Temple's offense with a 3-0 victory over the Owls. After a slow half, La Salle would tack on two late goals in the first period before closing the game with a third goal to finish things off.
The first goal would come at the hands of Explorer Jim Davis (Pittsgrove, NJ / A.P. Schalick) as he put one in the back of the net off of a pass from junior Joe Heavey (Coatesville, PA/Devon Prep).
Taylor Young (Millersville, MD/Severna Park) and Joey Foster (Tampa, FL/Sickles) would then take the ball up soon after in the 42nd minute and dump it off to Kevin Lydic (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) for another shot that would push the score to 2-0. That would be the only two scores in the first half.
Almost 20 minutes into the second half, Dan Heavey (Coatesville, PA/Devon Prep) would finish off the game with a third goal to secure the shutout at 3-0. He would receive an assist from sophomore midfielder Brian Barry (Philadelphia, PA/Holy Ghost Prep).
The Explorers look to get another win this Wednesday versus Penn and advance to a winning record. The game will be played at McCarthy Stadium at 7:00pm.
