Ottawa, ON - Freshmen Rodney Green's (Philadelphia, PA/Prep Charter) game-high 25 points paced La Salle University to a 91-69 victory over the Laurentian Voyageurs in the second game of the Explorers' four-game tour of Ottawa at Carleton University's Alumni Hall "Raven's Nest".
The Explorers trailed only once but blew it open with a series of steals and breakaways with just over six minutes remaining in the game. They scored 26 points off of 18 steals in the game.
Green and his fellow freshmen all reached double-digits in the win. Ruben Gullandeaux (Brooklyn, NY/St. Patrick's-NJ) tallied 16, Kimmani Barrett (Paterson Catholic/Paterson, NJ) scored 11, while Brian Grimes (Ft. Washington, PA/Germantown Academy/Brester Ac.) and Yves Mekongo Mbala (Elizabeth, NJ/St. Patrick's) each contributed ten points.
Laurentian took a 50-49 lead with 16:49 to play which they built to 54-49 but the Explorers responded with a 15-1 run that put them in front for good.
Junior Darnell Harris (Baltimore, MD/St. Frances) did not play in the first game will see action in the nightcap - an 8:00 PM match-up against four-time Canadian Interuniversity Sport champion Carleton University.
