Posted by: Kale BeersOttawa, ON - The La Salle Explorers ended their four-day tour of Ottawa with a 94-57 blowout of Algonquin College on Monday afternoon.
Freshmen Kimmani Barrett (Paterson, NJ/Paterson Catholic) and Rodney Green (Philadelphia, PA/Prep Charter) each scored 20 points in the affair. Green also added nine rebounds to lead his team in that category.
Green finished with a team-high 58 points (14.5 ppg) for the trip and led the team in scoring twice. Barrett came in with 57 points and 19 rebounds in four games.
The Explorers never trailed in the contest which was their fourth game in 43 hours including yesterday's twinbill in which they split with Laurentian (W, 91-69) and Carleton (L, 76-75 OT).
Sophomore Paul Johnson (Washington, DC/Gonzaga) scored over ten points for the third time on the tour with 15-point, seven rebound effort in the get-away game.
First-year forward Yves Mekongo Mbala (Elizabeth, NJ/St. Patrick's) was the fourth player in double-figures with 11 points to go with five boards.
Junior Darnell Harris (Baltimore, MD/St. Frances) did not play in the finale but compiled 53 points in just two games for a team-best average of 26.5 points per game. Harris dropped 33 points in the opener against Ottawa and scored 20 in the loss to Carleton.
The four-day excursion to Ottawa marked the first international trip of its kind for the Explorers who open their 2006-07 campaign on Saturday, November 18 against Mount St. Mary's at Tom Gola Arena.
