Explorers Knocked Down by Navy


ANNAPOLIS, MD - In the night cap of the first day of action at the Chesapeake Challenge at the U.S. Naval Academy's Macdonough Hall, the La Salle Explorer volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss by scored of 31-29, 30-28, 30-28.  The Explorers now stand at 4-5, while the Naval Academy boasts a 3-4 record.

Struggling on offense, the Explorers hit .125 for the match.  Junior Brittany Hanley came off the bench to lead the Explorers on offense, landing eight kills in 24 attempts.  Middle hitter Christa Dominick continues her solid play with seven kills and a team-high hitting percentage of .333 with just one error.  On defense, Dominick led the team with four assisted blocks.

Junior Erin Sullivan knocked down six kills and committed no errors enroute to a .240 hitting percentage on 25 attempts.  Sullivan also assisted on 11 kills and served two service aces.  On defense, Sullivan tallied 12 digs and assisted on two blocks.

Amy McKeon matched Dominick's four blocks, however McKeon tallied both La Salle's solo blocks and assisted on two additional blocks.  McKeon added five kills in the loss.

Navy's Jessie Sims led all players with 16 kills and Nikki England added 13 in Navy's win.

The Explorers will continue in action at the Chesapeake Challenge when they take on Providence at Loyola on Saturday.
