Explorers Take Second Place at Rhode Island


KINGSTON, RI - The La Salle men's swimming and diving team started 2007 with a second place finish at the Rhode Island Invitational.  La Salle along with host Rhode Island, Massachusetts and George Washington competed in three sessions, with one on Friday and two on Saturday.  The Explorers finished in second place with a score of 501, behind first place Massachusetts with a score of 550.  Rhode Island placed third with 327 and George Washington finished fourth with a score of 322.

Senior Sean Connors-McBride led the Explorers with a pair of first place finishes.  Connors-McBride took first place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:57.26.  He also swam to a gold medal finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:48.52.

Diver and fellow senior Karo Isajan took first place in the 1-meter event with a score of 301.55 and earned second place in the 3-meter event.

La Salle with return to action on Tuesday, January 16th, when they visit the Seton Hall Pirates at 5:00 p.m.
