OLEAN, NY - In a game of runs the La Salle University Explorers (8-11, 1-4) dropped an 87-73 decision to St. Bonaventure (5-13, 2-3) on Sunday afternoon at the Reilly Center.
The Bonnies capitalized on sluggish Explorer play at the on set to build a 31-19 lead with 7:33 left in the first half. They maintained a lead until the four-minute media timeout where the score stood at 35-28 with 3.29 remaining in the half.
La Salle then commenced a 21-0 run that bridged the halves and set the Explorers up with an 11-point lead, 50-39, with 15.51 left in the game.
The Bonnies were not finished, however, as Michael Lee would score nine of his team's 13 points while the Bonnies shot 69% from the field to reclaim the lead. Upon taking the 53-52 lead on a pair of free throws by Paul Williams, the Bonnies would never trail again and were able to seal the 14-point win.
Darnell Harris (Baltimore, MD/St. Frances) scored a game-high 23-points. The junior is now 22 points away from becoming the 45th Explorer to score 1000 or more points in his career with a three-season total of 978.
The loss came in the Explorers' fourth road game in their first five Atlantic 10 contests.
The University of Richmond Spiders are next for the Explorer who will square off in Atlantic 10 action Wednesday night at Tom Gola Arena.
