Jeremy Ortiz (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and sophomore
Jim Davis(Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) where honored this week by the Philadelphia Soccer Seven. The two midfielders were named to the All-Star team for their performances this season and against other Soccer Seven competitors.
The entire Explorer squad was named 2006 Team of the Year, going 2-0 against Philadelphia Soccer Seven opponents this season. The team also scored the most goals out of anyone else in the Soccer Seven, including three in a win against the University of Pennsylvania, who held the Soccer Seven lead for goals-allowed-average (.76) and save percentage (.826). The rest of the Soccer Seven is comprised of Drexel University, Temple, St. Joe's, Villanova, and Philadelphia University.
Davis and Ortiz were two out of just eleven Soccer Seven players to make this year's all-star team. Davis had 12 points this season, scoring 3 goals and assisting six times. He also played and started in every game of the season.
Ortiz played and started in 17 games this season, amassing 16 points; six goals and four assists. He was also named to the Drexel Invitational All-Tournament Team, Atlantic 10 All-Conference, and First Team NSCAA All-Mid Atlantic Region.
