PITTSBURGH, PA - In their final regular season road meet of the year, the La Salle University women's swimming and diving team posted a 117-87 loss to the Duquesne Dukes. The Explorers now stand at 2-7 for the season.
Freshman Shannon Duval continues to lead the Explorers, this time post a first place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:19.73 and a first place finish in the 200-yard individual medley wiht a time of 2:13.71. Duval rounded out the meet with a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.04.
Fellow freshmen Dana Reis finished in second place, behind Duval, in the 200-yard individual medley finishing just over two seconds behind with a time of 2:15.76. Reis also captured a first place victory in the 500-yard freestyle event with a time of 5:11.16. In the 1000-yard freestyle, Reis took third place with a time of 10:44.10, finishing just after teammate Jamie Polek who took second place with a tome of 10:43.59.
It was a pair of second place finishes for sophomore Carleen Caldwell who finished the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.92 and in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.19.
In the 200-yard butterfly, the Explorers took second and third place, with Jessica Nissen posting a time of 2:15.40 followed by Shannon Halleran with a time of 2:18.71.
Rounding out the top finishers for La Salle, Mallory Kessler earned a second place finish in the 200-yard backstroke, completing the race in a time of 2:11.85.
The Explorers will close out the 2006-07 regular season next Saturday, February 3rd, when they host the Lehigh Mountainhawks at 12:00 p.m.
