Women's Basketball Busy Even Before the Season Starts

Oct. 16, 2007

PHILDELPHIA - The La Salle University Women's Basketball team has been quite busy this semester already, even before stepping on to the practice court. They have taken part in several community service programs and this Sunday, will be involved in the Big 5 Clinic.

On October 21, from 9 AM to 12 PM at Saint Joseph's University Fieldhouse, all of the Division I women's basketball teams - and head coaches - from the six Philadelphia area schools will be instructing girls from 1st to 8th grade. The cost is $25 with all proceeds will benefit Coaches vs. Cancer. For more information contact Ellen Fitzpatrick at 610-660-1777.

This will be the third clinic that the Explorers will be involved with this semester alone - already going to St. Helena's in Blue Bell on Sept. 22 and to Logan Elementary School on Oct. 22.

They were also part of the Big 5 Clean-up on Sunday, Sept. 30 in Fairmount Park, again, an event involving all of the area basketball teams.

La Salle will next be turning its attention to the court, as they open up the 2007-08 season in less than four weeks, hosting Big 5-rival Villanova at Tom Gola Arena at 4 PM.
