Oct. 2, 2007
Due to an injury last season, La Salle Women's Soccer player Traci DePasquale had to watch from the sidelines for the final 17 games of 2006. She made an immediate impact on the 2007 season, scoring two goals and adding an assist in the Explorers two victories in the opening weekend.
Since, DePasquale has increased her totals to five goals - including two game-winners - and three assists in the first 10 games, which has already surpassed her totals in her first season in the Blue and Gold (4 & 3).
A recent sit-down with the midfielder revealed her inability to make one choice and her thoughts on the Phillies postseason chances - "Slim-to-none. They are going to get swept!" But it must be noted that she is an avid Mets fans, so we will forgive her for that (being a Mets fan), but here is more about Traci.
Why did you choose to attend to La Salle?
It was really close to home, which was important to me. When I came to campus - I just fell in love with the coaching staff and really liked the team.
What was it like last year having to sit out due to your injury?
That was terrible. I really love to play soccer and it was horrible having to sit out the year. But it did make me a better player, because I was able to watch the team from a different perspective.
What was your greatest memory of your soccer career so far?
When I was going into my freshman year of high school, my club team (Lacey Magic) won the Kellogg's Cup National Championship and we got our picture on the cover of the Frosted Flakes box.
What would you like to accomplish this season?
The team is determined to make the (Atlantic 10) Conference Tournament and make the finals. For me, whatever the team needs me to do - score goals, get assists - whatever they need me to do to help the team succeed.
What do you do to prepare for a game?
Get a lot of sleep. I like to eat well and take a nap before the game. I want to be well rested.
Who is your biggest inspiration/role model?
My brothers Joe and Mike, while growing up, I just wanted to be like them. I followed them everywhere. They taught me so much about sports and who I am today. They have taught me never to give up and always go for what I want.
