The La Salle men's swimming and diving team opened the 2007-08 campaign by topping Seton, 85-58, and Villanova, 110-30, in a tri-meet at Kirk Pool.
Senior Grant Chin had a fine day, placing first in the 1,000-yard freestyle, clocking in at a time of 9:52.92. Chin also placed first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:57.40. Freshman teammate Chris Tiano finished in second place behind Chin at 1:59.81.
Tiano continued his fine collegiate debut by finishing first in the 200-yard breaststroke, with a time of 2:09.34. Junior David Ellerson placed secord (2:12.58).
Owen Black and John Welsh claimed the top two spots in the 100-yard freestyle. Black finished first with a time of 48.36, barely beating out his teammate, who finished at 48.50. Black also came in second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.46) while junior Chris Cefalo came in third (1:47.17).
Junior Stuart Barr took first place in the 100-yard breastroke (53.08) and freshman Dustin Gibb finished in second (55.84).
The Explorers won both the 400-yard freestyle and 200-yard medley relays, finishing in times of 3:13.00 and 1:35.98, respectively.
La Salle returns to action when they head to the Nation's Capital to take on George Washington on November 3rd.
