The La Salle volleyball team struggled in their Atlantic 10 Conference home opener, falling to Xavier by a score of 3-0.
The Musketeers made quick work of the Explorers, winning by scores of 30-17, 30-20 and 30-21.
Rachel Stemper led the Explorers with nine kills, but La Salle couldn't get on track against the Musketeers. As a team, La Salle managed to hit just .081 for the match, while Xavier posted a .311 hitting percentage.
Jackie Kushman led all players with 12 digs, while Kayla Beck added 11. Carly Conlon had a team-high 17 assists in the loss.
The Explorers came into the match riding high off of their first A-10 win in nearly two years. Sunday's win over George Washington snapped a 16-game conference losing streak. However, the momentum didn't carry over for the blue and gold, as they fell to 1-2 in the conference and 9-12 overall.
Jill Quayle and Hillary Otte each had 12 kills for Xavier, who improved to 5-0 in the A-10 and 15-6 overall.
La Salle faces another tough test tomorrow when they face the 15th ranked Dayton Flyers at 1 p.m. at Tom Gola Arena.
