PHILADELPHIA, PA -­ ­­The Atlantic 10 Conference has released the 2007 Men's Soccer All-Conference teams. The Explorers had three student-athletes recognized this year, after going 6-11-1, 4-5-0 A-10. The team fell just short of a bid into the six-team Atlantic 10 Championships as their season ended with a 2-1 loss at George Washington University.
La Salle's senior midfielder/forward Jeremy Ortiz (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) has been named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention Team. In his final season, the team co-captain scored the second goal in a 2-0 shutout of Richmond, as well as the game-winner in an A-10 victory over Saint Bonaventure on Senior Day. He also scored the game-winner in a 4-1 rattling of city foe Saint Joseph's.
Freshman midfielder/forward Ryan Richter (Southampton, PA/William Tennent) has been named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team as he led the Explorers with 12 points in his first-year campaign. He scored five goals and two assists, as he saw action in 17 games for La Salle. The rookie had the game-winner in a 2-1 win over Duquesne in A-10 action.
Senior defender and co-captain Walter McMahon (Norristown, PA/ Methacton) has been named to the A-10 Academic All-Conference Team. In his final season the finance and accounting major saw action in all 18 games for the Explorers, and has played in over 60 career games for the blue and gold. The senior had one assist this season as a back, and two in his career. His work off the field has been apparent as he was also named to 2007 ESPN The Magazine's Academic Men's Soccer District Two 1st-Team. In 2006 McMahon made the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and was named a NSCAA All-Region Scholar. His future plans include a career in the Philadelphia financial field as he has accepted a position with a Big Four accounting firm.
