PHILADELPHIA, PA - La Salle University head basketball coach Dr. John Giannini is pleased to announced that he has received a National Letter of Intent from David Baroum (Hampton, VA) who is currently a senior at Bethel High in Hampton, VA.

 

Baroum, is a 6' 9, 245-pound center from Chad in the Central Africa.  He speaks English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Swahili fluently.

 

"David is a good player with a big upside," said Giannini.  " He has excellent size and a soft shooting touch which is a hard combination to find.  We also like him a great deal personally.  He will work hard, be a good teammate and represent us well."

 

Baroum's Bethel High is the same school that produced former Philadelphia 76'er and perennial NBA All-Star Allen Iverson. 

 

"Bethel High has a tradition of success," noted Giannini who pointed out that two of Baroum's teammates have also committed to Division I programs this last week.

 

Baroum will join an Explorer squad that currently sees substantial contributions from its last two recruiting classes with eight freshmen and sophomores playing regularly.
