Carbin Sets Record in Dual-Meet Loss

Nov. 17, 2007

Freshman Jess Carbin set a Kirk Pool record in the 100-back, but the La Salle women's swimming and diving team lost a pair to Delaware and Rider on Saturday afternoon. The Explorers, who are currently ranked 14th regionally in the collegeswimming.com mid-major poll, fell to 3-4 on the season.

Carbin set the record leading off the 400-yard medley relay, which the Explorers took in a time of 3:57.35. Individually, Carbin came through with a second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:10.92).

Shannon Duval eked out a win in the 200-yard IM, clocking in at a time of 2:08.27. The sophomore also won the gold in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.82). Classmate Dana Reis took second place in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in a time of 5:10.71.

In the diving portion of the competition, senior Katie Gifford and Tanya Lindenmuth took second and third, respectively, in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.

The Explorers return to action on Monday when they host city-rival Penn at Kirk Pool at 4pm.
