PHILADELPHIA - La Salle senior Carlene Hightower (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Prendergast) has been named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday.

 

Hightower averaged 25.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in two games this past week. She tied a career-high with 14 rebounds on Saturday versus Drexel, to go along with a game-high 30 points, just one shy of her personal-best. In the Explorers first win of the season over Loyola, she led all scorers with 21 points and added three steals. The All-American candidate accounted for over 50 percent of the Explorers' offense over the past week.

 

She currently leads the conference in scoring at 23.7 points per game and is averaging 10.0 rebounds a contest, tying her for fourth-best. Her 30-point effort on Saturday also matches the best output by a conference player so far this season (Amber Harris, Xavier - 30 points vs. Penn State on November 15th).

 

Hightower and the Explorers will look to earn their second consecutive win when they host Central Florida on Sunday at Tom Gola Arena.
