PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle men's soccer team has earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) 2007 College Team Academic Award. Of 409 institutions only 73 - which includes La Salle University - had both their men's and women's programs recognized. There were a total of 409 soccer teams (112 men, 295 women) that posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2006-07 academic year. The men's team notched a cumulative 3.16 GPA.
The Explorer's high marks were helped by senior co-captain Walter McMahon (Norristown, PA) who was named to both the 2007 ESPN The Magazine's Academic Men's Soccer District Two 1st-Team and the A-10 Academic All-Conference Team.
