New York City, NY - The La Salle men and women's indoor track teams competed in the New Balance NYC Gotham Cup hosted by New York University and held at The Armory Track and Field Center.
Two-time NCAA Cross Country All-American Sean Quigley (Braintree, MA/Archbishop Williams) won the 3000m race with a time of 8.04.25. The time set a La Salle school record and is good enough to make him a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Championships.
Other top male performers were Ryan Moseley (Nassau, Bahamas/Queens College HS) who took third in the long jump at 7.01. Moseley's jump qualified him for the IC4A championships as did his 60m dash time of 6.97.
The men's 4 x 400 relay team of James Tschabo (Herndon, VA/Church Farm School), Jared Davis (Englewood, NJ/Don Bosco), Andrew Maxwell (Lemoyne, PA/Cedar Cliff), William Rhea (Rockville, MD/Good Council) time of 3:19.07 was good for sixth place and also qualified for IC4A's.
Michael George (West Chester, PA/Henderson) finished fourth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.24.
The women's 4x800m relay team of Carolyn Lipovsky (Edison, NJ/Archbishop Air), Danielle Schopf (Glenolde, PA/Cardinal O'Hara), (Rachel Papin (Philadelphia, PA/St. Huberts), and Elizabeth Mayer Bradley Beach, NJ/Red Bank Regional) earned a third-place finish with a time of 9:42.52.
Papin also took third place in the mile with a mark of 4:59.04 while Schopf chased her across the line just four-tenths of a second later for fourth place. Both times were strong enough to qualify for IC4A's
Next week the teams will travel to Newark, DE to compete in the Delaware Invitational hosted by the University of Delaware.
Other IC4A qualifiers were; John Butler n the 3000m with 8:16.13 and Joe Dare's 3000m time of 8:25.56.
