BOCA RATON, FL - The La Salle University Baseball team ended its first trip to Florida with a 16-8 defeat to the host of the Beach Ball Bash, Florida Atlantic, Sunday afternoon, but do come home with a 2-2 record.
In the game, they actually held leads of 1-0 after the first inning and 2-1 entering the bottom of the fourth. However, a six-spot in both the bottom of the fourth and fifth, pushed the Owls to a 13-4 advantage.
La Salle (2-2) responded with a four-run sixth inning to get back to within five. They loaded the bases with one out, then Rich Prall delivered with a two-RBI single, followed by a John Rickards sacrifice fly.
Florida Atlantic (9-0) had three players - William Block, Daniel Bomback, and Justin Ferreira - combine four eight hits, four runs and 12 RBI. Bomback hit a grand slam in the fourth and Block hit a three-run shot in the fifth.
Owl starter Mike Obradovich (3-0) threw just five innings to pick up the win, while Explorer starter TJ Chism went 3.1 innings and got the loss.
La Salle returns to action Saturday with a doubleheader at Marshall, starting at 12 PM.
