PHILADELPHIA, PA - The La Salle women's swimming and diving team wrapped up the 2006-07 regular season on Saturday afternoon at Kirk Pool. The Explorers close out the regular season with a 153-147 victory over the visiting Lehigh Mountainhawks. With the victory, La Salle improves to 3-7 for the season. The meet marked the final performances at Kirk Pool for seniors

Sophomore Carleen Caldwell turned in a three-peat, scoring the win in three events. Caldwell posted her first victory of the met in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.29. She followed that victory with a win the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.01. Teammate Melanie Charles placed third behind Caldwell with a time of 25.94. Caldwell closed out her victories with a win in the 100-yard freestyle event, crossing the finishline with a time of 54.39, almost two seconds faster than teammate Rachel Sheridan, who placed second with a time of 56.35.
Freshman Shannon Duval also added three first place performances for the Explorers. Duval captured the gold in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.44 and earned a second victory in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:09.24. Closing out her wins, Duval earned a first place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke wih atime of 2:19.63.
Dives Katie Gifford and Margaret Stringer swept the top two places in both the 1-meter and three-meter events. Gifford wrapped up the first place scoring for La Salle with a score of 267.83 in the 1-meter and 241.72 in the 3-meter. Stringer placed in second in both events, posting a score of 207.66 in the 1-meter anf 215.10 in the 3-meter event.
The Explorers will finish the 2006-07 season at the Atlantic 10 Championship in Buffalo, New York starting on Wednesday, February 21st.
