Explorers Close Out Regular Season With Win Over Lehigh

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The La Salle men's swimming and diving team closed out the 2006-07 regular season on Saturday afternoon at Kirk Pool. The Explorers ended on a winning note, claiming a 155-145 victory over the visiting Lehigh Mountainhawks. La Salle finishes the regular seasson with a 4-4 record.

The Explorers got a strong showing from Grant Chin, who crossed the finishline in first place three times in the meet. Chin scored his first victory in the 1000-yard freestyle, with a winning time of 9:50.66. He followed with his second win in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:09.81. Chin rounded out his top finishes in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:55.01.

Diver Karo Isjan swept the diving competition in his final performance at Kirk Pool. The senior diver took first place in the 1-meter event wih a score of 317.40 and the 3-meter event with a score of 348.68. Teammate Jeff Long placed third in both events, posting a score of 213.21 in the 1-meter and 227.09 in the 3-meter.

Fellow senior Sean Connors-McBride rounded out La Salle's first place finishes with a victory in the 500-yard freestyle where he turned in a time of 4:51.32. Connors-McBride also earned a second place finish in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing with a time of 1:55.87. La Salle also captured third and fouth place in the 200-fly, with Reed Inglee following Connors-McBride with a time of 1:59.46 followed by Matt Harner with a time of 2:00.70. In the 200-yard freestyle event, Connors-McBride also tallied points for the Explorers, this time finishing in third place (1:45.00) behind teammate Owen Black who placed second with a time of 1:44.69.

The Explorers will wrap up the 2006-07 at the Atlantic 10 Championship in Buffalo, New York on Wednesday, February 21st.
