PHILADELPHIA, PA - Three member of La Salle's swimming and diving team were named to the 2006-07 Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team for their accomplishments both in the pool and in the classroom.
Senior swimmer Sean Connors-McBride (Stroudsburg, PA/Germantown Academy) picked up the honors after posting a GPA of 3.18 in biology on the academic side. In the pool this year, Connors-McBride captured a gold medal in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:50.67. He also added a bronze medal individually in the 200-yard freestyle (1:41.63) and as a member of the 400-yard free relay team (3:04.98). Connors-McBride also earned a fourth place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (4:36.57) and was a member of the 400-medley relay (3:27.71) and the 800-yard freestyle relay teams (6:49.91) that both earned fifth place finishes. He rounded out his accomplishments with an A-10 Performer of the Week nod in November.
Fellow senior Karo Isajan (Aurora, CO/Smoky Hill) was also added to the team earning a 3.21 as an Integrated Science, Business and Technology Major. Isajan qualified for both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events at the NCAA Championship this past week. In the A-10, Isajan also set an Atlantic 10 Championship record in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 617.65. In the 1-meter event, Isajan placed second with a final score of 623.90. Isajan also matched Connors-McBride's accomplishments with an A-10 Performer of the Week in January.
Rounding out La Salle's honorees, on the women's side, junior diver Katie Gifford (Souderton, PA/Souderton Area) also earned honors. A marketing major, Gifford boasts a GPA of 3.73.Gifford mirrored Isajan's accomplishments by setting an Atlantic 10 Championship record in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 493.95. In the 3-meter event, Gifford earned a fifth place finish with a score of 473.95.
