PHILDELPHIA, PA - On Friday, March 2nd at Harrah's in Atlantic City, New Jersey the Maxwell Football Club held its 70th Annual Awards banquet. The banquet honors some of the year's best high school, collegiate and NFL football coaches and players. Some of the 2006 award winners were Sean Payton (Professional Coach of the Year), LaDainian Tomlinson (Professional Player of the Year), Greg Schiano (College Coach of the Year), Brady Quinn (College Player of the Year) and James Brown (Host of the NFL Today show and Broadcaster of the Year). Some of the national and local members of the football community were invited to sit at the head table during the awards ceremony. The Explorers' own Tim Miller sat along side Philadelphia Eagles President and CEO Joe Banner to represent some of the local members of the Philadelphia community.
Some of the other members joining the head table for the Maxwell Award's were Charlie Weis (Head Football Coach at the University of Notre Dame), Chris Berman (ESPN host), Ron Jaworski (Former Eagles QB and National Media Member), Suzy Kober (ESPN Anchor), Vince Papale (Former Eagle and "Invincible" inspiration), Bill Manlove (Former Head Coach at La Salle and 1991 Bagnell Award Winner), Joe Pisarcik (President of the Eagles Alumni Association), Blair Thomas (Former Penn State player and #2 pick in the NFL draft) and Bill Levy (Mayor of Atlantic City).
The Maxwell Football Club is an organization dedicated to the concept that young people are the future of this country. The Maxwell Football Club wants to help young people realize their potential as leaders now, and as the future leaders of this country. Coach Miller and La Salle University were honored to have the privilege to be recognized by the Maxwell Club as an important figure in the local tri state community. The La Salle University Football program believes in the mission of the Maxwell Club and was thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of such a great night.
