KISSIMMEE, FL - The Explorers are now 3-5 this season and are on a three-game winning streak, having defeated Sacred Heart today, 4-3, followed by an impressive 7-2 victory over Indiana Purdue to wrap up the final day of the Rebel Spring Games.
The score was tied at three when the Explorers went into extra innings against the Pioneers, but outfielder Kelli Curcio was able to knock out a single in the tenth inning that brought fellow sophomore Teddi Hernandez into home plate for the 4-3 win.
The second game of the day was thankfully not as much a nailbiter. Laura Beth McCreesh got her first win as pitcher in the 7-2 handling of Indiana Purdue. Junior Kate Gulkis also played a big role in the win, as she would bring in four RBIs on the day, the final pair of them coming off a two run single that she hit in the final inning to wrap up the victory.
Next up the girls will bring it home for the first time this season, as they host Marist for the 2007 home opener. The game is scheduled to start at 3:00PM next Tuesday, March 13th.
