The annual Student-Athlete Academic Recognition Ceremony was held at the Union Ballroom on Wednesday night. In addition to honoring all student-athletes who have achieved an grade point average of 3.0 or better and saluting departing senior athletes, several annual awards including "Male and Female Student-Athlete of the Year" and the "Academic Excellence" will be awarded as part of the evening's program.
Also added to the program was a pair of awards honoring a non-athlete who contributed to the athletic experience at La Salle (Crowley) and the award for outstanding community service (De La Salle)
Tonight's Honorees:
Joseph E. Crowley Award (inaugural) - This award is for a student who is not an athlete who has made an outstanding contribution to the athletic department. The award is named in honor of Joseph E. Crowley.
Ed Fitzpatrick - volunteer production assistant for La Salle Radio Network
De La Salle Service Award (inaugural) - Student athletes who give of their time in service to the community through Project Teamwork.

Highest Women's Athletic Team GPA for Fall 2006 - field hockey (3.44)

2006 - 2007 Academic Excellence Award - Given to the graduating senior student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA
Christina Tofani - softball (3.96 - biology)
Male and Female Scholar Athlete of the Year- Given to one male and one female who has demostrating excellence both on the field and in the classroom.
