Lawrenceville, NJ -- The La Salle University track and field squads competed at the Rider Quad Outdoor Event hosted by Rider University on Saturday afternoon.
The Explorer men placed second in the seven team field with 139 points behind Sacred Heart's 160 point win. The Explorer women were fourth with a team tally of 88 points. Sacred Heart also won the womens' side with 163 points.
La Salle event winners were plentiful on the first pleasant afternoon for competition of the outdoor season.
Men's field winners were two-sport athlete Brian Winn in the javelin (56.38m) and Orestes Medina in the triple jump (13,08m)
The relay team of Joe Fedorowicz, Bill Ceriello, Korey Edwards and David Alfano won the 4x800 relay in a time of 7:58.56 while Jared Davis, James Tchabo, Andrew Maxwell and Keith Burke teamed up to win the 4x400m relay in 3:21.17.
Individual winners were Burke in the 400m race (56.95), Steven Rendall in the 110m Hurdles (14.88) and Steve Knox, who won the 5000m in 15:47.10.
The women were highlighted by Carolyn Lipovsky whose time of 2:16.88 was good to win the 800m. The 4x800 relay team of Lipovsky, Adriana Boyle, Jennifer Surabian, and Kellilyn Fierras won the event in 9:37.94
The Explorers have one more tune-up before the Penn Relays, this Friday, April 20th when they compete at the Widener Classic.
