PHILADELPHIA, PA - Hard work accomplished in the classroom paid off in a big way for the Men's soccer team this month, when they were honored at the Student-Athlete Academic Recognition Ceremony as the men's sport team with the highest grade point average for Fall 2006.
The Soccer team combined for a cumulative team GPA of 3.14. Highlighting that mark and setting the bar for the team were junior goalkeeper Andrew Bernhard, and senior defenders Walter McMahon and Geoff Schaeffer, all of whom have earned high academic honors and success throughout their time at the school and as Explorer athletes.
"Those guys consistently do well in the classroom," said Head Coach Pat Farrell. "It's a great feeling knowing that they earned this accomplishment by improving and doing well not only on an individual basis, but by trusting each other that they would all work hard and produce results as a team."
