Davis, Billingsley and Grossi Honored by Atlantic 10

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Three La Salle lacrosse players were honored by the Atlantic 10 for post season awards.  Freshman Jillian Davis was selected as the 2007 Rookie of the Year and Tiffany Grossi and Kaylan Billingsley were named to the Academic All-Conference team.

Davis, a three-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week finished the season ninth in goals per game, averaging 2.13 per game and netted 32 goals in her freshman campaign.  She leads all A-10 rookies in goals, points (38) and draw controls (32) and finished second on La Salle's team in goals, assists (6) and draw controls.  Throughout the season, Davis recorded three or more goals in five games for the Explorers.  Davis follows in the footsteps of junior Emily Bonczek, who earned the same award in 2005.

Joining Davis on the A-10 All-Conference rookie team are:  Sarah Cates, Janna Faulkner and Meghan Frederick of Duquesne; St. Bonaventure's Patty Nessle; Ashley King of Massachusetts, Jenna Martino of Saint Joseph's and George Washington's Taylor Donohue.

An education major, Grossi boasts a 3.35 GPA and is a member of the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.  She completed her collegiate career on strong note, recording a career-high five goals this season against St. Bonaventure.  Grossi also netted four goals against George Washington and a hat trick against Duquesne.  She tallied four points (2 goals, 2 assists) in the season finale at Massachusetts.  Grossi also assisted on a career-high four goals against Lafayette.  She finished the season as the team leader in caused turnovers and draw controls.  Grossi ends her career as the fourth all-time leader in assists and fifth in draw controls as well as ranks in the top 10 in games played.

Joining Grossi on the Academic All-Conference team, Billingsley, a junior political science major has earned a 3.78 GPA and like Grossi is also a member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.  A member of the Dean's List, Billingsley was the recipient of the La Salle Faculty Athletic Achievement Award.  A starter in every game, Billingsley closed out the season ranking third in caused turnovers (8) and fourth in ground balls (18).

Along with Grossi and Billingsley, the A-10 Academic All-Conference team is comprised of  Student-Athlete of the Year Robin Mason of Saint Bonaventure and her teammate Stephanie Jordan; Keri Drexel and Kathleen McNish of Duquesne; Jen Fletcher and Jessica Westlake of Saint Joseph's; Richmond's Claire Cunniff; Caitlin Garman of George Washington and Samantha Sepulveda and Erica Shapiro of Massachusetts.
