Conlon to Join Explorers in 2007

May 24, 2007

La Salle volleyball head coach Dave Stever announced the signing of Carly Conlon for the 2007 season.  A setter, Conlon makes her way to the Explorers from Blue Ash, Ohio.

A four-year varsity starter at Sycamore High School in Cincinnati, Conlon will replace Caitlin Conner who finished her career as La Salle's second all-time assist leader.  At Sycamore, Conlon set school records for assists in a season and for a career.  She led the team in assists in her final three years of competition and served as team captain in her final season.

As a senior, Conlon was selected to compete in the Regional All-Star Showcase and was selected to the First Team Greater Miami Conference team.  Conlon also received All-City Honors for her accomplishments.  In her junior season, Conlon was the recipient of the Best Server Award and was named as the Most Valuable Player.

In addition to competing at Sycamore, Conlon competed at the club level for the Cincy Classics Volleyball Club over the past three years and competed for the Cincy Peppers two years prior.  As a member of the Cincy Classics, Conlon earned a second place finish in the Baltimore, Maryland Eastern Regional competition in 2005 and also qualified for the Nationals held in Salt Lake City, Utah the same year.  The team also placed four in the 2007 Northeast Qualifier in Pittsburgh.

Coach Stever on Conlon:  "In my recent recruiting trips I have seen some of the highest level
volleyball played in the state of
Ohio especially at the setter position.  Brian (Assistant Coach Brian Sell) and I feel fortunate to have someone of Carly's skill level to join the team.  Her skills are a real tribute to the coaches at the junior levels and also high school coaches in that state."
