Charlotte, NC --The La Salle University track and field team wrapped up the first day of competition at the Atlantic 10 Championships with the men in fourth place and the women in sixth at Charltotte's Belk Field.
Highlighting Saturday's action was a bittersweet race for the 4x800 relay team of Joe Fedorowicz, Korey Edwards, John Butler and Sean Quigley who broke the Atlantic 10 record (set by Butler, Fedorowicz, Chris Cavella and Brian Ceriello here in 2005) with a time of 7:30.27 but finished behind Charlotte's team who finished first place - just over one second faster than the Explorers (7:28.97).
The Explorer men also had a strong showing in the long jump with a 2-3 finish of Ryan Moseley who jumped 7.17m and Orestes Medina who leapt 7.10m.
The women's relay team of Adriana Boyle, Carolyn Lipovsky, Jennifer Surabian and Rachel Papin won the 4x800 with a time of 8:58.35.
Danielle Schopf took second place in the 10k with a time of 36:21.06 and Kate Dobransky took third place in the 3000m steeple chase clocking a time of 11:13.13.
Competition from the Atlantic 10 Championships continues and concludes Sunday afternoon.
