Saturday's Semifinals Results

PHILADELPHIA - Despite posting its best time of the weekend, the La Salle University Men's Varsity Eight finished sixth in its heat and did not advance to either of the final races of the 2007 Dad Vail Regatta.

The only Explorers crew in action on the second day of the regatta, the Varsity Eight, which contained Francesca Cupo, Justin Wiener, Joe Hughes, Matt Wiedemer, Matt Stoltz, James Keough, Blaine Kneeshaw, Ryan Fair and Zack Coons, took to the water just before 11:00 AM.

Up against boats from Marietta, who won the event in 5:43.09, then took fourth in the race for the Richard O'Brien Trophy; Army, who was second and then sixth in the final race of the day; and Lehigh, which took third in the heat then went on to win the Second Final, La Salle stopped the clock in 6:10.93.

The time was almost 12 seconds faster than the Explorers time in their first race on Friday and two seconds ahead of their rep race, which advanced them into Saturday's race.
